SAVE OUR CEDAR! MALAWI’S NATIONAL TREE BRANCHES OUT BEDGEBURY NATIONAL PINETUM AND FOREST IN KENT SENDS SEEDLINGS TO THE EDEN PROJECT, CORNWALL Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, part of the Forestry Commission England, in Kent has sent the first seedlings of Mulanje cedar raised in the UK to be cared for by the Eden Project in Cornwall.

Earlier this year, Forestry Commission England launched the Forestry 100 Running series. This brand new series of 10k running events has been created as part of their 2019 centenary celebrations, helping to inspire a deeper appreciation of our forests.

Around 50 new Elm trees, loved by the rare White-letter Hairstreak butterfly, are being planted at Basing Wood in Hampshire this Valentine’s. The project by the Forestry Commission and wildlife charity Butterfly Conservation, is hoping to attract these much admired butterflies into the Wood in a bid to prevent regional extinction.

Jack Savoretti has added an extra date as part of Forest Live, the summer concert series organised by the Forestry Commission, playing Sherwood Pines Forest in June.

The Forestry Commission is asking residents and visitors to the Forest of Dean to take part in a consultation for a new land management plan for the public forest estate – Our Shared Forest. Our Shared Forest aims to reshape and redirect the way the public forest estate in the Forest of Dean is managed.

Singer/songwriter Jack Savoretti releases his sixth studio album, ‘Singing To Strangers’ on Friday 15 March. Recorded in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s studio, the 12 track album features co-writes with both Bob Dylan and Kylie Minogue. The album follows on from his last two gold discs ‘Written in Scars’ (2014) and ‘Sleep No More’ (2016). The special Forest Live gigs will see Jack and his band play material from his new album including latest single and BBC Radio 2’s Record Of The Week ‘Candlelight’ alongside classic Savoretti tracks.

Tears For Fears have announced a special gig as part of Forest Live 2019, the summer concert series organised by the Forestry Commission. Synth-pop pioneers Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith formed Tears For Fears in 1981 and with breakthrough single ‘Mad World’ and further top 10 hits, ‘Change’ and ‘Pale Shelter’ ensured No 1 status for their debut album ‘The Hurting’. Tears For Fears Forest Live set will include performances of their classic hits.

Paul Weller is the first artist to announce gigs as part of Forest Live 2019, the summer concert series promoted by the Forestry Commission. Paul’s latest release ‘True Meanings’, entered the UK charts at No 2. It is his fourteenth solo album and the twenty-sixth studio album of his career that began in 1977 with The Jam’s debut album ‘In the City’.

The kit will be launched on 13 September, Roald Dahl Day to celebrate the much-loved author on his birthday. Roald Dahl Day is the annual, global celebration of the world’s number one storyteller, his beloved stories and unforgettable characters.
