Event Permissions
If you would like to hold an event in Assembly-owned woodlands you must obtain permission from us.
You can apply for an event permission from the relevant forest district. Read the notes below then find the relevant forest district.
Please remember that our forests are working woodlands, and are used by many different groups. It may therefore not always be possible to grant an event permission.
- If you are planning an event in one of our forests get your initial enquiry in as early as possible.
8 to 12 months in advance of the event is not too early. - It takes us 6 weeks to process a permission fully, so if you apply within a shorter time-scale, we are unlikely to be able to help you.
- You may be charged for the event.
- Be ready to provide full details of the event including anticipated number of entrants and spectators, a risk assessment, emergency plan, insurance cover, contact details etc.
- It will be your responsibility, within a given time scale, to contact other users of the forest to warn them about the event (you will be given a list of the relevant contact details). You may also have to gain consent from, for example, the local police or highways authority.
- You will be responsible for clearing the site within a week of the event having taken place.
